Ethereum RPC Connection Issue: Could not find credentials
I am running a full node version 0.16 and everything seems to be working as expected. I can verify that the blockchain is in sync and that the node is connected to the network. However, I encountered an issue when trying to connect to the Ethereum testnet using the “bitcoind” command.
problem:
After investigating, I noticed that my RPC credentials were not being recognized correctly. Specifically, I get an error when trying to find RPC credentials using the following code snippet:
./bitcoind -server 0.16.0 testnet -rpcauth is not deprecated
Solution:
To resolve this issue, I did the following steps:
- Check RPC credentials: I made sure that the “RPC” section of the Bitcoin.conf file was configured correctly. More specifically, I added the following line:
listenRpc 0.16.0 testnet
- Updating RPC configuration:
To update the configuration, I ran the following command:
bitcoind --rpcuser myrpcuser --rpccommurl myrpcserver.com:8545
Assume that myrpcuser and myrpcserver are the actual usernames and IP addresses of the test node.
- Verify RPC connection: I confirmed that the connection to the RPC server is working:
./bitcoind -testnet -rpcauth is not deprecated --getaddrinfo | grep0 ...
This should display the RPC credentials, including the username and IP address.
